We are
Chelmsley Wood
Baptist Church

We are Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church. A random bunch of people on a journey of faith in Chelmsley Wood. We are part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, a Christian denomination that believes God is revealed in the person of Jesus. There is more theology on this but is might get boring to write it all here, so come along and find out!

We meet Sunday mornings at 11:00 at Three Trees Community Centre, Chelmsley Wood, B37 7TP

We are not perfect, we are all at different stages or places in our faith journey, but we are seeking to follow Jesus. You are invited to join us in that journey. Whoever you are, whatever you are, whoever you love, however you describe yourself. We believe Jesus is the way the truth and the life, everything else we can work out as we go along.
We think the church is meant to be a place where you can explore and grow in faith, find sanctuary and hope, love and be loved.

We Love People

Whoever and whatever you are, you can find a home here where you can grow in your faith and spiritual life.

CWBC is an affirming church and working to ensure we are inclusive, celebrating and affirming every person. Here’s our statement, based on The Inclusive Church Statement.

“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.

We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”

We are members of The Inclusive Church and the Affirm networks (pending).

If you don’t agree with us, that is up to you, but we no longer need to discuss it here, thanks.   🙂

Who are Baptists?

Baptist Churches are independent, we don’t have bishops and all that malarchy, instead we are run by the Church Meeting, which is all the people who are in the church family. At CWBC we have a minister and elected Deacons.

We are part of the Heart of England Baptist Association, the Baptist Union of Great Britain and a Charitable Incorporated Organisation no. 1211383.
